The Transcoding Engine allows you to convert HEVC video feeds to H.264. Transcoding Engine ingests your HEVC video feed and converts it to H.264. The billing for the Transcoding usage is $3 per hour or $500 per month + Data cost according to the plan
The transcoding feature can be used while being connected to On-demand, Cloud, and Helios servers with the following specifications:
On-demand Transcoding:
- available for VidiU Go devices only
- automatically started when your VidiU Go is connected to Core in HEVC (H.265) streaming mode. Please, find the details on how to get your VidiU Go connected to Core here. The traffic may be seen on the Usage History tab on your Account information with the serial number of your device.
NOTE: You are billed when the device is online with H.265 Codec, regardless of streaming or not. So, do not forget to change the Codec or get your device disconnected from Core not to be over-billed. The Codec can be easily changed from Core on the Encoder settings tab:
Cloud Hyperion Transcoding is available for all Teradek devices, that support H.265 streaming mode. You will be able to choose the needed Transcoding server when getting your device connected to Core on its Web UI
How to launch a Transcoding Cloud Server on Core?
- Click Server on the left menu bar.
- Click + Launch Streaming Server.
After clicking +Launch Streaming Server, you will be prompted to select one of the following options:
3. Click Continue with Hyperion
4. Configure General Settings:
- Enter a Server name.
- Set up Billing (NOTE: billing per hours option includes Scheduled/Auto/Manual Stop logic described in this article);
- Choose the Server Deployment region.
Click Next to proceed.
5. Configure Input Settings:
- Choose the Input Codec H.265 HEVC
Click Next to proceed.
6. Configure Output Settings:
- Select Custom and choose H.264
-Enable/Disable High Network Performance option.
NOTE: You will see the Transcoding status Yes on the right side and the Billing section changes: $500/month or $3/hour for Transcoding.
Click Launch Server.
The launched Transcoding Server will appear on the Servers tab on your Core account.
NOTE: The billing per hour option includes Scheduled/Auto/Manual Stop logic described in this article. Transcoding server is paid for uptime online, choose the preferred stopping server method not to be over-billed.

Helios Server Transcoding is mostly used with 3rd party encoders, bringing video via SRT and MPEG-TS even though you can also use Teradek encoders with it.
NOTE: RTMP streaming protocol is not compatible with HEVC, but the MPEG-TS protocol and SRT protocols both support the HEVC
How to launch a Transcoding Helios Server on Core?
- Click Server on the left menu bar.
- Click + Launch Streaming Server.
After clicking +Launch Streaming Server, you will be prompted to select one of the following options:
3. Choose Continue with Helios
4. General Settings:
- Configure Server name.
- Enable/Disable Back-up Switching
- Set up Billing (NOTE: billing per hour option includes Scheduled/Auto/Manual Stop logic described in this article);
- Choose the Server Deployment region.
Click Next to proceed.
5. Input Settings:
- Select Input Type.
- Choose the Input Codec H.265
Click Next to proceed
6. Output Settings:
- Custom;
- Output Codec-H.264;
- High Network Performance option.
Note! You will see the Transcoding status Yes on the right side and the Billing section changes: $500/month or $3/hour for Transcoding.
Click Launch Server.
The launched Transcoding Helios Server will appear on the Servers tab on your Core account.
NOTE: The billing per hour option includes Scheduled/Auto/Manual Stop logic described in this article. As you pay for having the Transcoding server online, choose the preferred stopping server method not to be over-billed.
