Core TV Collaboration Tools FAQ
1. What are the Core TV Collaboration Tools?
Collaboration Tools is a real-time communication platform within Core that facilitates discussion and feedback of video content being streamed through Core TV. Currently, the toolset includes chat capabilities via text and voice, and more features are on the roadmap.
2. How do I enable them?
Collaboration Tools are enabled for Plus, Pro, and Enterprise plans, but they are not compatible with the Basic plan.
To get started, navigate to the Core TV menu (icon on the left side pane of the web UI). When you invite individuals to a shared stream, you’ll now be presented with a text/voice chat option. The chat/voice rights are granted individually for each email that you are sharing the stream with.
Collaboration Tools work seamlessly with Core TV. The Admin has full control over who can join a chat and what permissions each individual has (read only/read and write, voice chat, etc.).
3. What do they cost?
Text chat is free.
Voice chat is available for a fee:
- Standard: $30 per 100 hours of voice chat
- Unlimited (Enterprise plans only): $100 per month
Voice chat operates similarly to a cell phone family plan. Time is calculated on a minute per user basis. For example, if 2 users are on a voice chat, they would have 50 hours of talk time before the 100 hours would expire. If there were 10 users, that would be 10 hours of total talk time.
For the Unlimited plan, it’s pretty straight forward: chat as much as you like. There are no limits. Enterprise customers may choose between the Standard and Unlimited plans.
4. What happens if I run out of time in the middle of a session?
Core will automatically charge you another $30 for 100 hours. This will happen seamlessly so no interruption occurs.
5. How does billing work?
Your account will be billed $30 immediately after you enable voice chat within the Core TV tab in Core for an individual.
The timer will start running when an individual starts a voice chat and will continue to run for as long as there is at least one individual in the voice chat.
This is important! Make sure everybody has left the voice session when it is no longer needed.
A toggle is available to turn voice on and off within all compatible Core TV applications.
Once your 100 hours have passed, Core will charge your account $30 for another 100 hours. Keep in mind that this is not a monthly charge, it is simply topping up your voice chat minutes once they run out.
Voice chat time rolls over month-to-month. There is no expiration. You can monitor your remaining chat time using the counter at the top of the Core web UI, under the Core TV tab.
Voice chat time is only available in 100 hour blocks for the Standard Plan. This cannot be adjusted.
6. What applications are compatible with Collaboration Tools?
Core TV for iOS / iPadOS, Core TV / Chat for macOS*, and the Core TV web UI are compatible.
Core TV Collaboration Tools are not supported for Apple TV, Windows or Android at this time.
* NOTE: Core TV macOS requires the use of Core TV Chat to access the Core TV Collaboration Tools. They are two separate apps at the moment.
7. Are the Collaboration Tools secure?
Yes! Collaboration Tools uses HTTPS and AES-128 encryption to keep your text and voice conversations safe.
8. Can I record these text/voice sessions? Will I be able to leave pinned comments on specific video frames?
Not yet! We have many new features in the works for this platform.
9. How many people can use text and voice chat?
There is no limit on users for text chat. There’s a limit of 15 simultaneous users for voice chat.
