The Nodes is an unlocked modem that is not tied to any specific mobile network, and Teradek does not place any restrictions on what type of mobile network or plan that can be used.
However, different carriers / mobile network operators might have requirements or restrictions that would limit or even prevent the Nodes from working on their network.
Before getting a Node
Before getting a data plan
After getting a Node and plan:
symptoms: not connecting at all
ensure SIM is fully inserted (link to KB)
ensure configuration in Teradek device is set to Auto (default, preferred) or Custom > Ethernet
no other configuration modes will work with the Node, only those two!
wrong Node for region / wrong network bands
link to KB article on Nodes and regions
check with carrier for updated information on the frequency bands in the areas in which you will be streaming, as they might have re-allocated bands!
blocked by network
considered IoT device / not compatible with their network or plans. If the network states that they will not allow the Node on their network based on the IMEI, then it is ultimately the network's decision on what type of devices will be allowed access.
needs to be registered with carrier
IMEI of Node needs to be registered with mobile network operator to allow access
wrong type of plan (e.g. if you swapped SIM from a phone to Node, the SIM is associated with a phone rather than a data device).
CA: get proper plan for Node, possibly new SIM card.
RAM: Network might temporarily allow but then suspend SIM card or line of service or Node, check with network for requirements.
correct plan / SIM swap from one data device to the Node
CA: IMEI of Node needs to be assigned to ICCID / serial number of SIM card by mobile network operator
RAM: Network might temporarily allow but then suspend SIM card or line of service or Node, check with network for requirements.
correct plan / missing configuration details

poor connectivity
right Node for region, but limited compatible bands in area

If you are using the Node with Telna's service and are encountering connectivity issues, the following are the most common reasons:
Missing APN value on Teradek device configuration
Make sure that your Teradek device is configured with the "altanwifi" APN value that is required to allow the SIM card to connect through to the mobile network, as described in this article.
If this APN value is missing, you may see a the carrier name present in the Teradek device's configuration for the Node (e.g. AT&T or T-Mobile) but no traffic will pass out over the Telna SIM cards.
Insufficient balance on Telna account
Check your account balance through Telna's portal and add funds if needed, as described in this article.
Telna does not automatically charge a credit card when funds have run out on your account, and your streams will be interrupted if you run out of funds during a stream.
Since it will take time to reconnect once funds are added, always make sure that you have sufficient funds for your intended streaming usage.
