Speed tests help you determine what quality settings to use according to the available bandwidth. Speed test results from VidiU’s Suggest Quality feature might differ from those produced by speedtest.net or fast.com. One main factor for this is the location of the speed test server.
VidiU’s speed test server (located in Northern California) provides an estimate of how fast data is being transmitted to VidiU. The further you are from the server, the more likely it will affect the accuracy of your speed test results. For instance, a speed test performed in New York will produce different results than a speed test performed in Los Angeles. Keep in mind that all our devices share this server, so if several devices are running speed tests at the same time, then your results will be affected.
For more accurate speed test results, we recommend using a computer connected to the same network as your VidiU, then test the computer's speed using speedtest.net, fast.com, or any other speed testing service you prefer to use.
