TeraCentral was originally created as a helper application to do two things:
- locate a Teradek encoder or decoder advertisement using the Bonjour protocol ( e.g. "cube-255-00169.local") and connect to the advertised IP address using the default web browser on your computer. NOTE: the TeraCentral app may not be able to find a Teradek device on the network if Bonjour advertisements are blocked by the network, or if Bonjour advertisements are turned off on the Teradek device.
- open the RTSP/RTP stream from a Teradek encoder in a bundled version of VLC Media Player.
The app has been discontinued for many years, and there are no updates planned as TeraCentral for Mac or Windows is not required to access or configure a Teradek device.
TeraCentral's basic functionality is available with the following steps:
- To connect to a Teradek device from a computer, locate the device's wired Ethernet or Wi-Fi IP address and type that into the computer's web browser. NOTE: the computer must be on the same network as the Teradek device, and if any routers or firewalls are blocking connection between the computer and the Teradek device you may not be able to connect even if you have entered the correct IP address.
- More recent versions of VLC Media Player are available which support not just the RTSP/RTP protocol but other streaming methods such as SRT. If you wish to use VLC to view the stream from a Teradek encoder, VLC may be downloaded from the official website.
