RESOLVED: January 21, 2020
Teradek has confirmed that the YouTube Live integration for hardware encoders, apps, and cloud services (Core and Sharelink) has been restored by Google.
It is no longer necessary to use the manual RTMP method for streaming to YouTube Live.
UPDATE: January 18th, 2020
- Google has approved and restored the integration for Core and Sharelink. There may be some delay as Google's changes propagate through their system.
UPDATE: January 16th, 2020
- Google has approved and restored the integration for apps (Live:Air Action and Live:Air Solo) and for hardware encoders including the VidiU product series, Cube, Bond, Slice and T-RAX encoders.
- Teradek is still awaiting approval for the Core and Sharelink integration.
Please continue to use the manual workarounds described below for Core and Sharelink.
UPDATE: January 15th, 2020
- Teradek is still waiting for Google to approve and restore the YouTube Live integration through Google's approval process.
- Teradek has not received any ETA from Google on when the integration will be approved.
Please continue to use the manual workarounds described below.
UPDATE: January 9th, 2020
Teradek has still not received any updates from Google or an ETA on the integration being restored.
Please continue to use the manual workarounds described below.
UPDATE: December 15th, 2019
Over the past 10 days:
- Teradek has tried several methods to restore access on the integration with YouTube Live without success. The error message shown by Google has changed from original reports, but is still preventing access in most cases.
- Teradek has submitted information to Google to restore the YouTube Live integration through Google's approval process, and is repeatedly checking with Google for an update.
- However, Google has not provided any specific ETA on when they will restore access and has said their approval process can take weeks.
Using manual RTMP configuration with a Reusable stream key and the Auto-start option on YouTube Live's side (both described below under Step 1) can simplify your workflow.
Overview
YouTube has recently made changes which have affected the integration on Teradek hardware encoders, apps, and cloud services streaming to YouTube Live.
An error message may be shown when trying to authorize to a YouTube Live account stating that the app has not been verified.
Our developers are trying to restore access for our integration. Once this issue has been resolved this article will be updated.
As a workaround, you can use manual RTMP configuration to stream to the YouTube Live destination in the interim.
Step 1: Get stream settings from your YouTube Live account
-
YouTube Live has instructions on how to find the stream key and server URL in their online help documentation for both their original Creator Studio interface as well as their newer Live Control Room interface that's in beta. Here's links to their help articles:
- Creator Studio Classic: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/2853700
- (beta) Live Control Room: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/9227510
NOTE 1: using a Reusable stream key can reduce the need to reconfigure your encoders in between test streams and production streams, or between different live events.
NOTE 2: in the Creator Studio Classic interface you can specify the Auto-start option when creating an Event to automatically go live as soon as a stream is detected; see Google's documentation on this feature here: https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/6088828?hl=en
Step 2: Configure Teradek device / app / cloud service
- once you have the stream key and server URL, you can configure the RTMP streaming destination from your encoder or app. Here are links to various knowledge base articles and reference guides which discuss manual RTMP configuration:
