- Rogers (as of June 21, 2019)
- Movistar (as of June 26, 2019)
How do the SIMs know which carrier to connect to?
Devices with Telna SIMs will automatically connect to the carrier with the best signal at the time that they're powered on.
Will the SIM automatically roam to a different network if the signal quality decreases?
At this time, the below only applies to the United States since there are T-Mobile and AT&T options; when used in Canada or Mexico only a single provider is available.
When the Teradek device using the Node and Telna SIM is powered on, it will choose the carrier with the strongest signal at that time.
If the device is moved to an area where that carrier doesn't have as good of a signal compared to another carrier, the Node will not automatically roam / switch networks to the new carrier -- it will remain on the original carrier chosen.
To have the Node perform a check on which carrier should be used in a new location, you can do the following:
- Power off the device and Node to ensure that the Node loses power, then power on the device and allow the Node to reconnect.
- Disconnect the Node from the device so that the Node loses power, then reconnect the Node to the device so that it can reconnect.
How do I manage my SIMs?
SIMs can be managed under the Teradek / Telna web portal: https://teradek.telna.com. All of your SIMs can be kept in one account.
How much does the data cost?
Telna charges for data on a pay-as-you-go structure, allowing you to only pay for the data you need. Prices in North America are as follows:
- U.S: $10/GB (T-Mobile / AT&T networks)
- Canada: $20/GB (Rogers network)
- Mexico: $20/GB (Movistar network)
There are no monthly recurring fees.
If I travel outside of my country, will I need new SIMs?
There are currently two types of Telna SIMs: North America and Global. If you’re planning to travel outside of North America (U.S.A, Canada & Mexico) or into North America, make sure you have the appropriate SIM.
At this time, only North America SIMs are available from Telna. This article will be updated when Global SIMs are available.
If I travel outside of my country, do I need to purchase data in my destination region?
No, data is calculated by the credit in your account. If you have $100 of credit in your account, you’ll be charged the rate of the region you’re in, which is automatically deducted. You can travel to any region without having to purchase new data.
Does the data expire?
Data expires after 6 months. Expiration date renews every time more data is purchased.
Where can I purchase Telna SIMs?
Telna SIMs can be purchased a la carte on the Teradek web store for $10 each. SIMs are also included in VidiU Go Deluxe Kit, Bond Backpack and Link Pro Backpack.
