Recovery Mode
- Turn off the Vidiu.
- Insert a paperclip into the reset hole on the back of the unit.
- Power on the Vidiu while continuing to hold the paper clip until all the lights on the front come on. The device will then say "Recovery Mode" and have an IP address of 192.168.1.123
- Download the latest firmware from here
- Set your Ethernet port to a static IP address of 192.168.1.101 and Subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 . It may help to turn off your wireless on the computer.
- Enter http://192.168.1.123 into a web browser and the Vidiu Recovery web page should load.
- Upload the firmware (use the main firmware .bin - not the recovery file) and after some time the Vidiu should restart.
*The firmware install should never take longer than around 12 minutes. If the upgrade has been taking longer than this amount of time the device may be frozen. You can power off / on. There is a chance the installation may pick up where it left off, but it the update has not succeeded you may need to repeat the process.

I have a firmware failure, but my VidiU will not go into the recovery mode. It will not power on when the reset button is pressed. I am waiting for a reply from support.
Hi, Kent, I have the same problem, did you solve it?
I had a firmware failure, but my VidiU would not go into the recovery mode. I sent the unit in to Vaddio for repair, and they were able to fix the problem and to reload the firmware. Vaddio's service was very prompt, and the charges were reasonable.
Thanks Kent, why Vaddio and not Teradek?
In my previous comment, I stated that I sent the Vidiu to Vaddio for repair. I apologize for the error. It was Teradek who did the repair. I am putting together a Vaddio video system for my church, and had Vaddio on my mind. Again, I'm sorry for the error. Teradek had to get inside to the board to reload the firmware. This is not something the user can do.
Thanks Kent, I'll send it to Teradek.
I have only had the vidiu pro for about 4 months using it once a week. Reading here the problem I am experiencing seems to be common. After multiple attempts at recovering the device the results are the same. It doesn’t work. To send the device back for repair is a waste of time in my opinion, for a device that is not out of warranty. Does vidiu offer a loaner until the repair is completed? Or do I just have to purchase another encoding device in the interim? Not satisfied with the device or the support so far.
When I sent mine in for recovery it only took two weeks including shipping time. If it is under warranty, then there should not be any charge.
Kent,
Thank you. I appreciate your feedback. I am trying to locate their warranty process now. The device is still under warranty. May I ask you, how long have you had your device back and how is it functioning for you? Also, do you know what the possible cause was for the problem.
It has been about six months since it was returned. Mine was no longer under warranty. It works well at 720p, but the 1080p is choppy at times. Teradek said to turn off the adaptive bit rate. I tried that but still have problems when streaming at 1080p. I record church services and stream the video at home following the service. We currently don't have Internet in the church sanctuary. I record in 1080p but stream at 720p. Teradek has not been able to fix that problem. I have plenty of Internet speed to support 1080p. I really can't say what caused your problem. I suggest sending it in for recovery.

Hi @XM bao you need to connect your device to router
once the device is connected goto to your router configuration to check the ip received from the router then type the ip address to a browser.
Please help me.
I have 8 teradeks with the same problem, they aren't entering the firmware upgrade.
I think it's because it is not receiving any data from the IP.
So, do I have to change my router IP's configuration to upgrade it?
Isn't there any another way to do it?
Maybe by connecting it on a computer?
Does anyone knows how to help me?
Please help me.
I'm on Brazil and if I can make it all work it will be a miracle!
Thanks to everyone who read this.
