Improvements to Sputnik will require a change for Core-deployed Sputnik servers by January 15th, 2018.
Self-hosted Sputnik servers are not immediately affected by this change and will function after the January 15 deadline. However, self-hosted Sputnik servers will not receive updates and will not be supported by Teradek until they are updated to a newer Linux distribution (if necessary) and a newer Sputnik release.
Core-deployed Sputnik servers
All customers running Core-deployed Sputnik servers should use the upgrade instructions shown in their account to switch to the newer Sputnik server.
Self-hosted Sputnik servers
No changes will be made to self-hosted Sputnik servers, and they will not be affected by the deadline of January 15, 2018 for migration of older / deprecated Sputnik servers.
- All existing self-hosted Sputnik servers running CentOS 6, CentOS 7, Ubuntu 14.04, etc. will continue to function as before.
- All new Sputnik instances must meet the requirements described in this article.
The older / deprecated Sputnik software versions must be removed from a self-hosted Sputnik server before the new version can be installed, as described in this article.
