As of the December 2017 release, Hyperion servers used with an active Core subscription must use a 64-bit Linux distribution which is running the systemd init system.
Overview
Customers with a Core Enterprise subscription can install Hyperion on a self-hosted server running Linux. This is only supported on an Enterprise plan and is not available on a Core 2.1 Basic / Plus / Pro plan.
- This can be a physical server located on-premise or in a data center, or on a virtual machine.
- The self-hosted Hyperion server is linked to your Core account, and is only supported for use with the Core account.
- Updates to the Hyperion are provided for the duration of your active Core Enterprise subscription.
- If a Core Enterprise subscription is cancelled, continued use of the Hyperion software is not permitted and it must be removed.
Installation
1. Log in to your Core account at https://corecloud.tv
2. Select Engines, Hyperion Engines, then click + Launch at top right, and then Install & Run
3. Copy the link under the Installing Hyperion Software section
4. Open a terminal on your Linux server and paste/run the install script shown in your Core account
NOTE: only the following Linux distributions are supported for Hyperion installation or configuration issues with Core:
- CentOS 7
- CentOS 8
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7
- Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8
- Ubuntu 16.04 LTS
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
Clean OS install is preferred to removing legacy Hyperion software.
Customers may use other Linux distributions or more recent versions (as long as they have a systemd init system), but Teradek cannot provide direct assistance for any installation or configuration issues that may arise in those circumstances.
