Overview
The VidiU Go can record to microSD media or to a USB storage device.
Only one recording media target is supported at a time, either a single USB device or a single microSD card -- it's not possible to record to multiple destinations at the same time.
The recording settings are the same as the encoding settings configured on the VidiU Go -- it's not possible to have independent recording and streaming settings.
When a recording is complete, be sure to use the front panel/web UI / VidiU app to eject the storage device before removing it from the VidiU Go so that the recording or card is not corrupted.
Likewise, when removing the storage device from a computer, be sure to use the appropriate method to eject the microSD card or USB storage device from the Windows / macOS / Linux system so that the card doesn't get corrupted and remains usable by the VidiU Go.
Requirements
Supported SD cards:
The following SD card form factors are supported:
- MicroSD (up to 2 GB)
- MicroSDHC (4 to 32 GB)
- MicroSDXC (64 GB and larger)
NOTE: the VidiU Go does not support full-size SD cards.
Supported file systems:
- FAT16
- FAT32
- exFAT
NOTE: the VidiU Go does not support Mac / macOS file systems such as HFS, HFS+, or APFS (Apple File System), or Windows file systems such as NTFS.
Recording to a microSD card
To insert a microSD card:
- Remove the plastic port cover on the left side of the VidiU Go.
- Position the microSD card with label side up / contacts facing down, then insert the microSD card into the labeled slot (below the USB port and to the right of the reset button with circular arrow).
- Continue pushing the microSD card into the slot until it rebounds slightly from the spring loaded mechanism, then stop pushing; about 2 to 3 mm of the edge of the microSD card will be visible from the edge of the VidiU Go's chassis.
- Use a fingernail or other thin object (e.g. edge of a coin, paper clip, phone SIM card insertion tool) to press the microSD card further into the slot against the spring loaded mechanism until it locks in place. The card will be recessed about 2 mm inside the chassis to prevent accidental removal, and to allow connection of the Node for VidiU Go.
- If Recording is not currently enabled on the VidiU Go, the device will prompt you to enable recording and choose the microSD card as the recording target.
To remove the microSD card:
- Stop the recording process on the VidiU Go using the menu (front panel, web UI or VidiU app).
- From the VidiU Go's menu choose the Recording menu, then eject the microSD card so that VidiU Go finishes writing to the card.
- Use a fingernail or other thin object (e.g. edge of a coin, paper clip, phone SIM card insertion tool) to press against the recessed edge of the microSD card until it clicks against the spring loaded mechanism and ejects.
- The edge of the card will now protrude 2 to 3 mm from the edge of the chassis, and can be pulled out the rest of the way.
Recording to a USB storage device
To insert a USB storage device:
- Remove the plastic port cover on the left or right side of the VidiU Go, depending on which USB port you wish to use.
- Connect the USB storage device to the USB port.
- If Recording is not currently enabled on the VidiU Go, the device will prompt you to enable recording and choose the USB storage device as the recording target.
To remove the USB storage device:
- Stop the recording process on the VidiU Go using the menu (front panel, web UI or VidiU app).
- From the VidiU Go's menu choose the Recording menu, then eject the USB storage device so that the VidiU Go finishes writing to the device.
- Remove the USB storage device from the VidiU Go.
